About

Just Popping Out for a Bit follows the adventures of Laura (that cretin who is referring to herself in the third person is she me). In May 2014 I began my travels on a working holiday in New Zealand. This travel blog aims to be:

  • an honest guide to planning a trip
  • an honest guide to travelling alone
  • an honest guide to travelling in New Zealand
  • something for my family and friends to stalk me on while I am away.

About Me

I am a Yorkshire lassy from England. After graduating in journalism, my restlessness and desire for adventure has pushed me to take myself travelling. Writing is a fundamental part of my life now, so naturally I wanted to blog my trip to New Zealand. Plus, as it turns out my blog got me a job. Nice!

In other news, I am a raging geek who loves sci-fi/fantasy dramas. See my last project for an example of this obsession. Learning to ski then snowboard during my time at university has given me a unprecedented love for snow – and also a reason I chose New Zealand as my destination. Then I have general human qualities such as the desire to socialise with fellow man and woman, eating (especially Indian food), sleeping, nights out, and the need to humanise animals (like my cocker spaniel, Denzel).

Hope you find what you are looking for on Just Popping Out for a Bit. Feel free to leave comments if you have anything to add 🙂
